Designed by the architecture firm Plexus, Bârma blends harmoniously into the landscape of Courchevel La Tania. Set right on the slopes, the hotel revisits the codes of Alpine architecture, combining stone, wood and wide openings to converse with its surroundings rather than impose upon them. Balconies, terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows open the spaces onto the peaks and let the light accompany every moment.
The interior architecture, by Atelier Giffon, carries this same philosophy through enduring materials, bespoke fittings and a palette inspired by the mineral and forest worlds. The play of light, the quality of the materials and artisanal craftsmanship compose spaces that are warm, understated and timeless.
True to the origin of its name - barma, an Alpine term for a rock shelter - the house was conceived as a contemporary refuge, deeply rooted in its land. An architecture that converses with the mountains as much as it honours them.
In the rooms, the French house Byca signs the guest amenities. Made in Normandy, the lotions, body washes, shampoos and skincare come in refillable amber glass bottles to limit single-use packaging. Naturally derived formulas and silky textures that embody a vision of wellbeing where pleasure and responsibility go hand in hand.
The mountains are, above all, a living land. Through its cuisine, its fine grocery and the partners who accompany it, Bârma favours local producers, artisans and businesses who share its standards of quality and its attachment to the land.
In the kitchen, the menus evolve with the seasons, giving pride of place to locally sourced produce. Producers, farmers, cheesemakers, market gardeners and artisans from Savoie and Haute-Savoie all play their part in a gastronomy deeply rooted in its environment.
The fine grocery likewise showcases a selection sourced mostly within a radius of less than 100 kilometres, revealing the riches of the Alpine terroir and the know-how of nearby makers.
This commitment extends to the choice of French and European manufacturing for the uniforms, designed to support local industries, textile excellence and more responsible production. Alterations are entrusted to the Albertville sewing school, encouraging the passing on of craft skills and local collaborations.
Supporting these artisans and workshops means helping to preserve a living heritage.
A house exists only through the women and men who give it life. At Bârma, the quality of the welcome begins with the care given to our teams. Respect, trust, the passing on of know-how and a collective spirit form the foundations of the way we work.
To support their quality of life, 80% of our team members are housed directly on site. The others are provided with accommodation less than fifteen minutes from the hotel, reducing commute times and making daily life easier.
We also encourage the development of skills and each person's fulfilment, convinced that sincere hospitality is built, above all, on teams that are committed, recognised and fully invested.
